Holcomb Bridge Features

Common Sense Education School

Common Sense Education, the national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping kids and families thrive in a world of media and technology, has recognized Holcomb Bridge Middle as a Common Sense School.

HBMS has demonstrated its commitment to taking a whole-community approach to preparing its students to think critically and use technology responsibly to learn, create, and participate while preparing them for the perils that exist in the online realm, such as plagiarism, loss of privacy, and cyberbullying. With the right support, kids can take ownership of their digital lives, engage with real issues, and change their communities for the better. The recognition acknowledges our school's commitment to creating a culture of digital citizenship.

Parent Literacy Night: Power Up with the Public Library

This past Wednesday, the Youth Services Librarian from East Roswell Library, Mox Brown, and our school librarian, Ms. Keown, teamed up for a parent night presentation: Power Up with the Public Library.

The event covered a variety of resources that are available to our students and families through their FREE public library card:

  • Virtual tutoring
  • Language-learning apps and in-person classes
  • Holds, loans, and virtual access to books and articles
  • Research databases
  • Child and teen programs like Dungeons & Dragons club, Pokemon club, and the Teen Advisory Board, where our Hawks could help plan programs in the library and earn volunteer hours for service

Just to name a few! If you missed the presentation and would like to view the slides, they are available at this link. Families were also invited to sign up for library cards for themselves and their family members, which can be done online from any location at the Fulton Public Library website here.
